Today we travel to Kedleston Hall for a morning visit. This spectacular 18th century mansion designed by Robert Adam in the 1760s is framed by 820 acres of historic parkland, this neo classical mansion displays an extensive collection of paintings, sculpture and original furnishings and has recently been a key location for the movie blockbuster, The Duchess. We will then enjoy a 35 minute train journey on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway running from Wirksworth to Duffield. The Ecclesbourne Valley itself is one of Derbyshire’s most lovely and unspoilt valleys, stretching from the northern outskirts of Derby at Duffield, to Wirksworth, an ancient market town with a maze of interesting alleyways and narrow streets.
