Our exciting new 10 day "Grand Tour of Scotland" covers a much larger area than ever before, from the beautiful Highlands down to the Scottish borders in the south. Fabulous attractions have been included such as a train journey from the Kyle of Lochalsh on the west coast right across to Dingwall on the east, a cruise on the deepest section of Loch Ness to hunt for the famous monster and a trip on the Falkirk Wheel, a rotating boat lift, which is an incredible piece of engineering.

Price Includes:  1 night's Dinner, Bed & Breakfast accommodation at the 3 star Gretna Hall Hotel, Gretna Green, 4 night’s Dinner, Bed & Breakfast accommodation at the 3 star Priory Hotel, Beauly and 4 night’s Dinner, Bed & Breakfast accommodation at the 3 star Mercure Barony Castle Hotel, Peebles.  Included attractions are a single journey on the Kyle of Lochalsh railway, a Jacobite cruise, the Glen Ord Distillery, the Falkirk Wheel, a Forth Boat Tour cruise and entry to the New Lanark Visitor Centre.

 

Not Included:  Single room supplement £205 per person

 

PLEASE NOTE:  The Gretna Hall Hotel does have ground floor rooms (some accessible via 6 steps) as well as a lift but not all bedrooms have lift access.  The Priory Hotel does not have any ground floor rooms but does have a lift which travels to all floors.  The Mercure Barony Castle Hotel does not have any ground floor but does have a lift which travels to all floors except the 4th.  Some bedrooms on the 2nd floor are accessed via 15 stairs.

Wednesday

We depart Plymouth at 6am and start our journey north. We will make suitable comfort stops and a longer break for lunch along the way. We aim to arrive at our overnight hotel in Gretna Green late afternoon where you can relax and unwind before dinner.

Thursday

After an early breakfast, we travel up to the Highlands. Our journey takes us through the beautiful Glen Coe to Fort William where we’ll stop for lunch. We then continue our journey onto our next hotel where we will spend 4 nights.

Friday

This morning we will travel alongside Loch Ness, via Fort Augustus to the Kyle of Lochalsh, which overlooks the Isle of Skye. From here we will board the train for a journey to Dingwall where you will re-join your coach for the short journey back to the hotel.

Saturday


Today we join an inspirational cruise departing from Clansman Harbour which is a one hour long circular cruise and incorporates sailing on the deepest section of Loch Ness with stunning views of Urquhart Castle ruins. (Please note access to the boat is via an underpass which runs underneath the road, this path is narrow and uneven in places with approx. 15 steps to negotiate). After the cruise there will be time to visit the Loch Ness Monster exhibition centre. We then travel onto the Glen Ord Distillery located on the edge of the Black Isle, founded in 1838, making this one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland.

Sunday

You can relax and enjoy a free day at leisure today. Trains run from Beauly to Inverness and take approx. 15 mins (not included in price) so you may wish to explore this option and visit the nearby city. If you stay in Beauly you will find an excellent range of varied shops, places to eat and some lovely relaxing walks alongside the River Beauly which is a renowned salmon river.

Monday

We leave our highland hotel this morning to begin our journey towards Edinburgh. We’ll stop off midway at the delightful town of Pitlochry for lunch before continuing onto our final hotel; located on the Scottish borders just south of Edinburgh, where we will spend the next 4 nights.

Wednesday.

Today we enjoy a full day in the capital city of Edinburgh, where you are free to explore the many attractions at your own pace. There is the historic castle, the Palace of Holyrood House, the Royal Yacht Britannia plus much more (attractions mentioned may incur an entry fee which is not included in the tour).

Thursday.

We enjoy a full day at the award-winning New Lanark Mill visitor centre today. The former 18th century cotton spinning mill village is located on the banks of the Falls of Clyde, recognised as one of Scotland’s 6 UNESCO World Heritage Sites of "outstanding universal value", beautifully restored as a living community. Travel back in time to experience the amazing story of life and times in New Lanark in 1820. New Lanark quickly became known under the enlightened management of social pioneer, Robert Owen. He provided decent homes, fair wages, free health care and a new education system for villagers and the first workplace nursery school in the world.

Friday.

After breakfast we make our way back home, making comfort stops and a longer stop for lunch en-route aiming to arrive back into Plymouth mid - late evening.
