Monday

This morning we visit Salmesbury Hall which is a fabulous half-timbered black and white medieval house built in 1325 as a family home and steeped in fascinating history. It is renowned as one of the most haunted locations in Britain with resident spirits including the legendary "White Lady" and you can discover the story of the Salmesbury Witches. This afternoon we lighten the mood with a visit to The Chocolate House in Blackburn. This is a well established local producer of hand-made chocolates, fudge and truffles where you will have a demonstration of the art of chocolate making along with a tasting opportunity.

Tuesday

We will head down to the coast today and visit the UNESCO world heritage city of Liverpool where you will find a unique mix of contemporary and classic architecture, not to mention two magnificently different Cathedrals, and of course, the stunning redeveloped Liverpool waterfront and docks.

Wednesday

Today we will visit Hoghton Tower, set in magnificent grounds and situated 650ft above sea level it is a 16th century Elizabethen fortified manorhouse, the only true baronial residence in Lancashire. View the state rooms, banqueting hall and ballroom and stroll through the beautiful walled gardens to complete your trip. We then enjoy a 90 minute relaxing canal cruise on a tranquil section of the Leeds Liverpool canal passing through delightful Lancashire countryside.

Thursday

Sadly we must leave Lancashire behind today and start our journey back to the West Country. We will make comfort stops and a longer lunch stop along the way aiming to arrive into Plymouth early evening.
