Thursday

This morning we have a guided tour of Woollaton Hall, Gardens & Deer Park, built in 1588, the hall is a stunning Grade 1 listed Elizabethan Mansion, now home to Nottingham’s Natural History Museum. Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises" was filmed here; the hall is located 5 miles north of Gotham where the fictional "Gotham City" got it’s name. This afternoon we enjoy a 90 minute cruise aboard the "Nottingham Crusader" along the beautiful River Trent; one of the major rivers in England. Its source is in Staffordshire as it flows through the Midlands until it joins the River Ouse at Trent Falls to form the Humber Estuary.

Friday

Take advantage of your hotel’s central position this morning and explore Nottingham’s compact pedestrianised city centre. Attractions include the Galleries of Justice Museum, City of Caves, and Nottingham Castle where you will find many references to its most famous son "Robin Hood" - (some of these may incur an entry fee). This afternoon we head across to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway where we will enjoy a single journey from Duffield to Wirksworth. Running along one of Derbyshire’s most lovely and unspoilt valleys it covers a 9 mile track and is a heritage railway loving restored and operated by volunteers.
