Saturday

We continue our journey south. On the outskirts of Limoges is a truly unique museum and memorial to an atrocity carried out in the last days of the second world war, where the Waffen SS massacred 642 men, women and children of the village of Oradour-sur-Glane on 10 June 1944. Today, the village remains maintained as it was left with the remnants of the villagers lives still scattered around. After this we continue to our hotel in Le Bugue that will be our base for the next seven nights.

Sunday

Enjoy a morning at leisure in Le Bugue. In the afternoon, your driver will take you to Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. The village is steeped in prehistory with some important archeological sites both in and around the area. For those young at heart, it may be possible to hire a canoe and drift down the Vezere river back to Le Bugue. The river Vezere is seen by many as superior to the Dordogne and meanders at a slow pace so no effort is needed (canoe not included in tour package).

Monday

Today a sightseeing trip to see some of the scenery for which the Dordogne is renowned. Domme is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France and is situated high above the Dordogne river. After lunch we make our way to La Roque - Gageac, a scenic riverside village from where we will have a trip by Gabarre (boat) on the Dordogne. A visit then to the nearby hilltop Jardins de Marqueyssac before returning to our hotel in Le Bugue.
